On a little wooden bridge in the northeast corner of the Monmouth College campus, the idea for Kappa Kappa Gamma was born. That now-famous conversation between Mary Louise Lou Bennett and Hannah Jennette Jennie Boyd was more than just a passing fancy. It was the start of something big. The 1870 Reserve honors our founding and the six trailblazing women who sought to create something bold. This proprietary red blend from our award-winning winemaker Todd Heth exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry, and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long-lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.
