A Very Rare, 17th Cent. William & Mary Period, Inlaid Walnut Escritoire Desk. (1371)

A very rare 17th Cent. William & Mary period.  Boxwood inlaid Burr Walnut fall front Escritoire Desk. circa 1680/90. Provenance: Originally from Griesebank House, Ballitore, Co.Kildare. Constructed in two sections. The top section having a large 27ins x 26ins drop front writing surface with an adjustable reading slope with new gilded green hide leather surface. Behind the fall front is a combination of eight small oak lined drawers plus open storage compartments. In addition there are three small drawers behind a locking central cupboard with original key. There are are also four additional secret drawers, inc. one very large draw. The lower section having four very large oak lined drawers with original iron locks above bracket feet. Size: 41ins wide x 19ins deep x 67ins high. All in lovely condition, cleaned, deep waxed polished with some restoration but retaining the minor wear & tear, chips & deep patination etc. expected of a working item this age.
